Batt to Yarn

In the spirit of using what I already have, I decided to try out some color combinations. Lot's of sparkle in this batt, I really need to figure out how to take pictures that show the sparkle. I pulled off about 1.5 oz. using my new diz. It made it really quick to spin up since it was almost completely pre drafted. I pulled the rest of the batt off whole. I will pull the predraft off in strips since I carded it pretty even in color across the carder. The darker blue merino really changed the look of this batt. The lighter pink is all alpaca. I am very happy with how soft this batt turned out, and am so far happy with the yarn (it's going to be added to my crazy scarf somewhere along the line).

  3. How funny/ironic. I was looking at your post & thinking I wish there was just a "LIKE" button as I'm trying to get out the door to gather hay (200 bales out of the field) so didn't want to take time to post a comment. Then saw your FaceBook link on the top. So now I LIKE you but I guess I also just did spend a moment commenting. Oh, well. ;-)

  6. Thanks for the offer! The hay man surprised us by having some field help to load which was half the battle. The 1st hundred are unloaded, the 2nd hundred are tarped until tomorrow. And it all starts over again in a few days. But it sure keeps the sweet sheep happy.

  7. Beautiful! You are going to become addicted to taking your batts to yarn to knitted good. I just finished a shawlette that I spun from my art batts...already to make another project.

  9. Andrea- It is fun to see what mixtures I end up with. Too bad that pesky thing called work is getting back in the way.

Heather- Thanks! I love mixing, and since I cannot paint this seems to be the next closest thing!
