I know what I will spend my day practicing.
I also made a journal cover. I included sari silk and silk caps into the cover, but it didn't show up as much as I had hoped it would-the texture is awesome.
My adventures and misadventures in the fiberarts and with the animals who provide that fiber!
Congrats on the knitting! I have never really got the hang of continental style - my left hand is far too lazy!
ReplyDeleteThe journal cover is lovely!
Yay, Kelly!! Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteYou will soon be virtually unstoppable...master of every fiber art known to man! XXO-
Heather- I think I like learning too much! I gave up weaving early on, so I guess it won't be EVERY fiber art known to man! hahahaha
ReplyDeleteTrekky- I'm not sure why this style seened easier. I do like having the knit side all in my right hand.....
ReplyDeleteWell done Kelly! I'm off to google continental knitting Im such a knitting duffer that I didnt know there were different 'ways' lol xx
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Now you'll never have an empty lap again! And how much fun to use your own beautiful handspun!
ReplyDeletehappy knitting easter:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to You and Your Family!
ReplyDeleteThat is great that you have done your First Knitting stitches! I can't wait to see more. I don't knit but would love to learn. Are you taking a class or are you teaching yourself from a book? I don't do well trying things like that from a book. :(
Hugs and happy knitting!
Norma- I am using the website knittinghelp.com, they have very helpful videos. I am the same as you when it comes to a book to learn.
ReplyDeleteSee, I went about things all wrong. First I learned the English version and practised so much, I could do knit WITHOUT looking. Then I discovered this Continental business - and in one fell swoop, the knitty therapy was out the window! Continental is so much faster but you should see how tense I am. It took ages to find my stride again with the English. But you? You're clever.
ReplyDeleteTania- Ha! I read on another blog that the reason I am having an easier time with continental is because I started with crochet and this is the most similar. I still cannot do any without looking so you are WAY ahead of me! :)
